Prerequisites

Main purpose

After following the course, the student will have obtained knowledge, skills and competencies in quality management.

Knowledge

After following the course, the student will have knowledge of:
  • different models and techniques within quality management
  • process variation and capability
  • tools and techniques to support and improve quality assurance and control
  • selection from a broad range of techniques and the most appropriate technique to use
  • methods/means including quality into product and systems design.
 

Skills

After following the course, the student will be able to:
  • apply the most appropriate quality techniques
  • perform a statistical process control study and analysis
  • perform a root cause analysis and implement well founded solutions
  • design an optimal quality management system
  • include quality into business decisions.
 

Competences

After following the course, the student will have the competence to:
  • identify, analyse and evaluate the different techniques given in the course models, theories and concepts
  • apply course theory and concepts in analysis and evaluation of quality problems in relation to quality management
  • design and perform a process capability and in or out of control study
  • identify, analyse, discuss and recommend relevant solutions to any quality problem.

Main contents of the course include, but are not restricted to:
  • Defining quality.
  • Measuring quality.
  • Analysing quality.
  • Improving quality, and
  • Controlling quality.

Study activity will consist of preparation, lectures, guest lecture, group exercises / presentations, exercises and case work.
