Prerequisites

Main purpose

The main purpose of the project is to develop or further develop a product or concept with a focus on circular economy, carry out a market survey and draft a business plan based on this.

• Circular solution development (reuse/refurbish/recycle).
• Validation and needs analysis via pretotyping
• Market research in the customer area
• Business plan including budget
• Development of technical solution
• Business model design e.g. take-back scheme, earn money on spare parts instead of new sales or a subscription scheme
• Documentation of the solution's impact (e.g., using LCA)

Knowledge

Selection of theories, models and methods from the subjects in relation to the solution of the semester project assignment.

Skills

 The students must be able to:

  • Choose theories, models and methods that are relevant to the problems in the project
  • Design, dimension and document machines / software in accordance with rules and regulations
  • Demonstrate self-initiative, interpersonal skills, criticism, self-criticism, desire to learn

Competences

The student must:

  • use relevant project management tools 
  • define, manage and implement interdisciplinary projects via a project plan (the project description) 
  • apply market analysis input to the technical solution and vice versa 
  • develop technical sustainable solutions that both meet the market's needs and have business potential and circular designed 

Topics

Teaching methods and study activities

​Interdisciplinary project work supported by both process and professional guidance, including introductions to market research, business plans and circular development.
Production of a product in the form of model, prototype, program, items or similar in laboratories and workshops.
Project groups, minimum 6 participants and minimum 2 from each specialization.
Project groups, 4-5 students within their specialization.​

Evaluation

Examination

​Prerequisites for exam: 
None

Exam type: 
Group exam on basis on project report (20 pages) and process report handed in on time. Individual assessment. Joint presentation and examination with discussion and individual question rounds. Estimated approx. 15 minutes per student incl. voting.
Individual grades are given on the basis of an overall assessment of the submitted work as well as the individual´s performance during the exam.Internal Censorship

Re-examination:
The examination takes place as an ordinary examination.

For students who have not passed the semester project, a mandatory information meeting will be held at the end of the spring semester. Here, information is provided on specific deadlines and detailed courses for the project work, just as new project groups are formed where possible in relation to the number of failed students in the individual semesters. 

Based on the feedback received after the ordinary exam, the student chooses either to prepare a new project or revise the non-passed project. This must be stated at the meeting. 

If the student has not submitted a project or participated in the ordinary exam (without an approved/valid reason), the student must make a new project
