Our design

Our design is created based on the notion that the social media and advertisements make us more aware of our bodies.

I chose to study furniture design because I wanted to create meaningful pieces of furniture that would help people towards better lives. The beauty and aesthetics of a piece of furniture is one thing, but a design must make a difference for people and thereby justify its own existence.

Blur is a comment to the objectification and sexualisation of the body that the media is creating in today’s society. Blur is a tribute to your body and discourages you to reflect on the tendency of constantly being aware of your body and your goal of perfection.

I design furniture because I want to create solutions for a more sustainable future. Furthermore, I want to create harmonious furniture with focus on aesthetics and function and which makes a difference for people.

Emma

Our inspiration

The inspiration comes from a tendency in our modern society to present the world  through filters and altered images. This gives us unrealistic expectations about our bodies and self-images.

Through our piece of furniture, we want to focus on the fact that people become increasingly aware of themselves because of the media’s influence. This results in insecurity and increased modesty.
