Emnebeskrivelse
In this 80 min workshop, we will discuss the processes that keep our water systems safe and sustainable. I will explain what wastewater treatment plants are designed for and when do they operate. We will explore the main treatment stages, and the standards that treated water must meet before being released. Students will learn how wastewater is handled through mechanical, biological, and chemical processes, when disinfection is required, and which factors influence plant performance. I will also explain what happens to the leftover sludge, how it can be converted into energy to lower plant costs, and how nutrients can be recycled for agricultural use. This will combine technical insights with practical examples, showing how wastewater treatment supports both society and sustainability. I will make the workshop entertaining and interesting for the students, so they don't look for a second in their phones.
