Our design

Curve challenges the standard measurements of today’s classic dining chairs. Because of the globally increasing obesity epidemic, there is a need for chairs that are reliable without compromising on aesthetics. The softly curved upholstery and wide seat invites users of all sizes to take a seat, and the solid legs make the chair seem grounded and reliable. 

I have always wanted to do something creative. I chose to study furniture design because I like the many aspects in furniture design - you need to consider form, function, materials, tactility and much more. For me the process from the early idea to the final product is very exciting

Our inspiration

More than half of the Danish population is overweight, and many of them have experienced stigmas and taboos from the surrounding society. Through dialogue with people living with obesity, we found out that many of them are constantly aware of their size because of narrow seats, armrests and questionable constructions in chairs.

Experiments with shapes and materials made Curve come to life, inspired by the beautiful shapes of the overweight human body.

I have always had creative interests and loved to draw and redecorate my room as a child. It’s amazing what effects furniture can have on moods and purpose of a room; I find this very interesting. I always knew I wanted to do something with design. Designing furniture, I get to work both with all aspects of furniture and get hands on experience with all kinds of materials
