My design
The Axilla Chair is designed to focus on the negative aspects of vanity. The chair is designed as a large version of an armpit and intends to make us aware of our natural smells and hair growth. Our armpits are not a problem but a part of us. The Chair contains pheromones to replicate the human scent.
I chose furniture design because it gives me the opportunity to express myself creatively. I asked myself where and what I wanted to do in ten years. It might be a cliché, but that is how I ended up studying furniture design. Magnus Thy
The chair is designed based on a certain level of recognition and the asymmetric shapes challenge new and different seating positions and reminds you that you are sitting in a huge armpit.
It also helps to focus on our over-consumption of chemicals, such as antiperspirant and deodorant.
Furniture design covers a variety of skills. From a creative approach to logical construction. You need to be problem-oriented to come up with aesthetic and functional solutions. Magnus Thy
My inspiration
The design is based on our fascination with the human body. The name Axilla is the Latin term for armpit or underarm. The chair takes references directly for the body and is designed from casts of the human form. The armpit is an area of vanity amongst many and is a relevant subject in the 21th century.
